Sounds a bit on the high side, but not far off. Typical rule of thumb is that it will cost you double what you think it will. My bottom end was almost 3k, and I didn't have the mains splayed.

What are you doing for crank/rods? Is that included in the $4k?

4k is ridiculous. Is that just the price for the labor? Or the parts too? I just had my motor balanced/blue printed, heads milled, 3 angle valve job for $250.

got the breakdown not as bad as i thought the things that were the most were the pistons rings and main caps.
diamond pistons .060 over-$824.50
total seal rings- $349
splayed/installed caps- $455
rod bearings-$87.36
main bearings-$87.75
cam bearings-$26.50
conetic gaskets-$190
arp main studs-$105
felpro oil pan gasket-$29
linebore-$195
mill block-$175
ballance rot ***.-$210
then there's a few more mchining things that are between $2-$75 a toltal of $3,404.34 ad i dont think that includes the 400 for the axels. not as harsh as i though but still think they killed us on the pistons rings and main caps

yea well we did tell them we want the best. so thats wat we got and im just an idiot for not gettin a quote. i got the money and after thinkin its not a big problem since they got us pretty much everything we need. it suck that they had to go .060 over i dont lik the idea of how thin the wall are and its a nitrous motor.

the block was already .040 overbored. and apparently they found small scratches or somethin in the barely used block and bored it out more. they didnt want to go .050 cuz then they would hav to special order the pistons and they woulda been alot more

I agree. You could have purchased the parts for a lot less; pistons, rings and gaskets seem really high.

What are these "axels" you're referring to?

i had them install bigger/new studs on the 9" axels and to do that they had to remove the bearings so they installed new studs and bearings
