Default Y-pipe?

I got a 94 trans am with a lt1 and i got a cat that is leaking could i replace it with i y pipe because i dont wanna replace it with another cat. And does that cat have a sensor in it and would it still sound good

yes, you could get it cut out and replace it with a straight pipe. any exhaust shop could do it. try going to an independent or a friend's shop though, becos its illegal to remove the cats and chains won't do it. there is generally a sensor after the cat that monitors the composition of the exhaust gas. if the cat isn't working, itll throw a code. you have obd-1 so it might be less likely to throw a code. you could get an o2 simulator and replace the current sensor so it wont throw a code. but if you have to do a treadmill test when you go to emissions, youll fail 9.5 times out of 10 haha

I got a guy that can do it. So your sayin it has a sensor after the cat and that it might throw an error code because there is no cat anymore. And where i live we dont have emission checks here haha

the 94 dosnt have a sensor after the cat. i know i have one. the later cars did but were lucky on cat delete. so no error code.

my bad. i thought they all (except 93) had a rear sensor. guess you're good to go. get a straight pipe welded in bud!
