Valve Spring install HELP!!!!

Hopefully the valves that are not in the heads are numbered and designated to go back into their original respective guides. If not then you could be in a whole heap of trouble. The valves all have a unique wear pattern in the guides AND valve seats. If a valve is used in a different guide and seat it will cause accelerated wear and your valves will most likely burn up making this a much more expensive project.

so what was the final verdict you we dont use any valve seats other than the shim that comes w/ that kit? im in the middle of the job and i need to make sure before i finish. same problem here middle spring sits on top of the valve seat.

k, sounds good do you have your car runing any problems or anything w/o the seats. fixing to complete the job today. right after i finsh talking to you actully. lol

Now these are to be installed height of 1.875” and 1.850” so of course they should still be measured. But like i said i did call crane and they said that the way that i installed the springs is the correct way. Good luck on your install.

valve cover looks good.
ss.slp.ls1 i dont think it would be a problem as long as the middle spring is not sitting on the valve seat. i had installed 1 spring sitting on the valve seat and it looked like it was under constant pressure, kinda when you put lowering springs on stock shocks. good thing i came on here and got the right info ls1tech ftw

well on the 93's the spring seat is taller for some reason. The later model LT1's have a much smaller seat than we do. Also our seal are different. Not sure if 93's were the only year that were like this but he has a lot less interference with his than we do.

lloyd elliot told me to use the the comp cams part #4770-16 locators with the crane 10308-1 kit. This gives it an installed height of 1.820" And giving you about 145lbs of seat pressure. That's without using the shims that the kit comes with. Was just at the shop and measured everything.
