dont mean to thread jack. Im having the same issues trying to get the damn impeller out with hand tools. Also can i just leave the WP drive gear in and not take off the timing cover??

yep just take the drive coupler off and your good to go.

Hey:

I welded a Quarter size piece of 1/8" thick aluminum over the hole in the timing cover, There is a guy on ebay that sells a plug you can jb weld on,
On my other car I just left it alone and did not pull the cover off and it has not leaked in 30,000 miles yet, I just removed the pump drive coupler.

and if you remove the drive you can switch to a double roller timing chain instead of the stocker thats what i did on mine, welded the hole up too
