Since I was being a jackass before I guess I should have instead come in and thank all of you who were posting bad information. Apparently I just can't get it through my head that bad information is better than calling bad information bad.

And you wonder why the country is in the position it is in.

Are you saying dealers could specify the oil GM put in their cars at the factory? I'm pretty sure my LT1 came from the factory with 5W-30.

Cheapest? Probably so, but I'm sure there was a minimum standard that had to be met. A little unlike some of the info you like to pass along at times.

It probably was the cheapest oil at the time that met API certifications of that time era.
