Question about LT1 4 bolt main block
I just picked up a LT1 4 bolt main block out of a 96 LT4 vette for $100, it was the deal i have been looking for. I am now going to start my 370 ci small stroker. I was wondering if the factory caps are good enough to hold about 600 hp and high reving under small boost. I may get lucky and see 700 hp. I want thos motor to be able ro rev to 7200 max 7500 once in a while. I have read mixed reviews, just asking the pros. The motor will be studded also.
Thanks
Steve

What i heard was the stock caps expands with the block at the same rate for better longevity but steel caps will hold more hp but tear up the bearings faster, how true is that?
Thanks

funny this thread came up, i'm in the process of building a forged 370 turbo stroker also with a 4BBL (to be different lol guess you were thinkin the same thing) i was told by my machinist and friend to keep it around 700 on stock caps.
in other news, where did you purchase your pistons from? and if you havn't you should take into consideration that they are VERY hard to come by, i had to custom order mine from Ross. That is if your using a 3.625 stroke 4.030 bore combo which i assume you are.

I work at Wiseco Piston, so I can make a piston to fit in anything. I am using a K1 forged crank(3.625) with K1 billet rods(6.125) for a great rod to stroke ratio, almost used 6.25 rods but then I would not have been able to build the pistons for boost. I used the LS1 struted forging we have which are in 90% of our big buyers engines like late model and mallet. I used the .048/.048/3mm ring package for low friction with tool steel pins, the rotating assmembly cost me about the same with my discounts as much as the crank and half the rods at full price, the one good reason for working at a place like that. I am going to run a single 76 trim turbo with boost of 10psi with the help of meth, but what is going to hold me back is I am going to use off the shelf trickflow heads(big discount) until I can pay to have them ported and using a custom cam plus dropping the lt1 intake and going to a single plane. This motor is not for drag racing, it is being built to go 200+ mph in sanctioned events and also road racing, I dont like drag racing, I snapped a driveshaft at 110mph and almost hit a wall, so it is a preference.
