Exactly!

I had the crane 227 for awhile and it sounded pretty much stock. I went 115mph with a set of mildly ported heads in a full weight car. If I got it dyno tuned I dont think 116-117 would have been out of the question in better weather. A lot of people put down small cams without any info or actual experience with them, I guess they fell into the bigger is always better mentality. The 227 was a badass daily driver cam with instant torque off idle and no cam surge.

Only video I have of it in a 95 degree south florida day.

Jeg's still shows it as in stock, part # 270-104227

Is the Crane 227 and the LE cams spec'ed the same? I thought a 111 LSA would always be choppy??? That clip sounds perfect!!! I thought a 112 is more lumby than a 114 and a 114 more lumpy than a 116.

They are pretty much identical in specs. a 111lsa will not be choppy. If you started going into the 109-107 it would pick up some lope. The nice thing is you can have either Loyd or AI grind it to whatever you want. Plus a custom grind cam will be the better route to go then a off the shelf cam like the 227.

Patrick G spec'ed a cam for my GTM, I am not sure if he is just a LS guy. I sent him a PM. Thanx for the advice!

Ding ding ding...we have a winner...Ran this cam in my 383 for years and it sounded very close to stock...Ran its *** off too and still got great gas mileage...Cam now resides in my friend's ZZ3 motor and its carrying on the same tradition of running great and sounding close to stock...

With any of these cams do I need to run 1.6rr or any aftermarket rockers for that matter. If I do which ones will fit under the stock valve covers?

I would run a set of NSA 1.6 rockers for sure. Good for another 12 or so rwh. The Comp 1305-16 rockers would be a good choice. You may have to trim a little of the inside support of the valve covers down in order to fit...nothing major though. Hardened chromeoly pushrods and a nice set of valve springs to top it off.

My custom grind is similar to the LPE cam. More lift though. Should have a ittle more top end. Can't wait to see how it runs, I hope It sounds near stock

I will be the 4th to say the Lingenfelter 211/219. I know a street racer who ran one, raised the idle a little and it sounded perfectly stock and ran quite well with owner ported heads.
