Header install is a bitch
#21
I got it! Disconnected the #1 primary and it still would NOT go from the bottom.
I was soo fn pissed lol
Went to the top and tried it and it fell in like butta.
Got all the plugs back in and wires hooked up on that side. Just gotta see if some parts stores have header bolts tomorrow. The stock ones won't work on some of the holes because of the flange hits the primary.
I ground the flange off of one and out it in w a crows foot but it was a pita. Just gonna wait n get some bolts

LOL, don't give up man, installing headers is like an LT1 right of passage. I can't wait to crack the whip over QuasarZ28's head when it's time for him to install his

dude, LT's probably would have been easier.
They way these are shaped make the ds header impossible to go in from underneath without jacking the motor or lowering the k member. At least for me...
Does matter though, I think it will be worth it, even though theyre not blessed long tubes.

Took me a good 8 hours or so with my dad to do Lt's. It wasnt even that bad, just little issues. Well worth the work though.
Glad you kept at er and got er almost finished.

Unbolt the K-member from both sides and drop it down. Make sure you support it and make sure you have the engine supported before you drop it! I used my strut tower brace and a chain to hole my motor up. If you have a cherry picker use that! Worked like a charm. I was installing QTP lt's and they have a sligh clearance issue with the intermediate steering arm and with the k member on both sides. I just bent the #1 header tube in to clear the steering shaft and it was done.

My uncle and I ran into all sorts of problems with the longtubes. We had to remove several heat shields as well as grind away a tad at some stuff. Aside from breaking the coolant sensor, knicking the headers up a little bit, and several thousand curse words it wasn't all that bad.
