What's the story on oil breathers, they are only for nitrous or FI cars, right?

The breathers are to replace your PCV system.

Hey guys, as mentioned earlier in the thread, there really are no special covers needed. Any centerbolt valve cover will work. I got a pair of chrome covers at Checkers that work just great. They dont have the little dent for the alternator, but all you have to do is grind a tiny bit of the back side of the alternator case off. It harms nothing and is not even noticeable once mounted.

Although the cantons are a nice piece if you can afford them.

I'm pretty sure we couldn't of ground enough of this alternator away to clear the valvecover. Bob

zlicous,

Those valve covers look like a set of powder coated early LT1 C4 maybe L98 covers.

I know the OP said no Cantons but these look like they might clear the Alt.
I saw posts where people said they had to hammer them and they cost $300. Did they change the design and has the price come down?

It would be nice if they cleared my fuel rail covers. Anybody have them with FRC's and have to trim them to fit the Cantons!

I forgot how to link pics so you have to click the link...

Those have been modified to fit the LT1, not casted to fit it. You can see the welds where someone cut and welded them to fit, but it would work. I just dont like the look of Canton's...I have a thing for engine bay dress-up because my car is going to be more show than race.

They do look similar, but didn't the LT4 covers have a strip down the center? Like a notch that ran the length of the VC?

Like this?

I believe the Canton's are a fabricated not cast cover and the LT1 covers on Cantons site look the same as the ones in the Ebay link. They come cut, welded and modified from Canton from the looks of it. I just wondered why people say they still had to do some hammering on them?

I hear what your saying about show dress-up. I can tell you that the vette fuel rail covers go along way toward cleaning up the engine bay, add the composite vette valve covers and I think you would be very happy!

were you able to buy the two driver side only online somewhere and what are the options? seems a lot easier than relocation or grinding the back of the alternator

Dude... 12 year old thread. Google f-body junkyard. Probably your best bet. If you want traditional center bolt valve covers without the grinding you can see about a relocation bracket for the alternator. I don't have any specific links. Perhaps the sponsors on this site or google can help.
