Default Bad opti causing code 43(ESC)?

My car (94 lt1 m6) is missing and bucking when...on the highway at a low rpm and try to give gas, when wot and approaching higher rpms. It is running really rich, puffing black smoke sometimes on acceleration. All this leads me to think my opti is bad. I scanned it yesterday and the esc 43 code would not erase,,,, could this be from the opti or not? Also the snap on scanner said my car was 20* advanced while sitting at 880rpm.

43 Knock Sensor (KS) circuit
Could be excessive knock retard, don't know what the timing should be.

Might as well test your fuel pressure and clean your MAF.
How old are the plugs, wires, and o2's?

plugs, wires ,02 sensors are all within last 2k miles, I searched and foun 20* seems to be within specs for the lt1 timing.

Then I would test your fuel pressure, replace your coil, and clean your MAF...if nothing changes then it's time to order a new opti.

What I use is a 3-claw puller pushing against a socket sitting on the crank hub, works perfectly.

Code 43 has nothing to do with the opti. It's your knock sensor circuit. The computer will retard timing 10° or more to protect the engine while the code is active. You will probably notice less performance than normal.
