had a vacuum leak do this to me before, imagine a bad map sensor could cause similar problems

mine did the same thing and it turned out to be a broken 2-4 band in the transmission

my 98 did that when i ran through gears if i left in drive or overdrive it worked fine, back when trans ams will go through gears z28's wont i have heard
