help please, think my PCM is toast- 2 in one day!
so i was doing some tuning this afternoon, and i wrote a file a few times. Finally i was writing a file with tunercats, and it wrote, showed write complete, but didnt kick the fuel pumps. It only turned on the cooling fan and now the car has no life. cannot connect to the PCM, cannot do anything it just cranks with no start. is the wonderful piece of **** called the LTx PCM done? Im gonna go pick up one out of a 95 caprice and try that but wanted your thoughts

so i did 3 writes to this pcm, did the same thing. No communication, instead of the fuel pump kicking after the write the fans came on. Still starts and runs though like ****. WTF is going on this has never happened and ive done probably 50 writes on this car with no problems!

would like to add that i used a backup file to be sure it wasnt a corrupt file, and also installed a different CATS program directly from the website to be sure that wast corrupt as well. I find it odd that after this many successful attempts it suddenly does this 2 times

Your original PCM may not be fried, since it got to 100% complete. Try it again now that it's been out of the car. (Sometimes in this situation it just needs a power reset.)
Your second PCM definitely isn't fried, since the engine starts.
Sounds like you have bad wiring/serial converter/something like that.
Famous last words...
One failure = bad luck
Repeating the same thing and expecting different results = bad user

tired both pcms today after having them out all night, nothing. still no connection. Does the PCM go into a fail-safe or something? I cannot figure out why the fans would be kicked on otherwise. Also i plugged into another car today and was succesful in connecting on the first try so its not the cable or program.

maybe the new pcm requires a different definition type, did you make sure when loaded on the new pcm all the values were the same as on the old pcm? I know my car has a weird definition file, the rarest of the 3 I guess so all the values would be off unless I loaded it with my specific type selected

well the 2 computers i used yesterday are networked, and must have had some type of virus or something. I drug the old IBM 486 desktop out there today and put another PCM in, did probably 20 writes to it tonight with no problems
So the question i have now is, can i send these 2 PCMs out to somebody and maybe they can get them back into service?
Also, i was standing next to it leaning on a 8lb sledge, it was all i could do to not smash that ******* thing. One of the PCMs took a 30 yard flight across the yard though, lol. God i hate LT1s
