Default Dumb question(s).

I purchased a rebuilt complete long block with all accs, I want to do a heads/cam swap. This engine has not be run since the rebuild can I reuse most of the gaskets?

Also the new engine came with fully rebuilt iron heads, so I plan to swap them to the old block (with new head gaskets of course) and sell the engine complete with all accs, what is it worth? The heads on the engine now are 374 heads. Since I have to replace the head gaskets on the old block and the iron heads are not worth much I figured I would sell the 374's to someone looking for a good porting heads. I understand they are the disirable heads for porting (currently with 120K miles though). What are the heads worth?

Thanx for the help.

I think you would be better off replacing all the gaskets again. THose 374 castings are prolly worth a couple hundred bucks, maybe more if you have paperwork on the work done to them.

The only gaskets that I would reuse are valve cover gaskets, that's it.

You will want to keep your 374 heads to send in as a core for some nice ported stockers from Ai.

No. Iron heads are not desired, nor used gaskets. NEVER reuse a gasket. Unless its valve cover or throttle body.

To clarify 120K block with all accesories including the PCM, manifolds, intake, strarter, P/S, Alt, a/c, all pulleys, smog stuff, with rebuilt heads and all new top end gaskets...only thing missing would be the TB and harness........is there a value to this?
