putting on my intake manifold,

Permatex sensor-safe Ultra Copper high temp rtv silicone... the orange stuff?

that might work. But i would use BLACK rtv. That is what i have always used, and it is what comes with the LT1 felpro intake gasket kit, and i have never had a problem.

Pick up some Permatex Ultra Black. I believe the copper stuff you have is for exhaust gaskets.

You can use either. As long as it seals.

Ultra Copper is what is doing the seal on my intake (leak free for the last 6 years). It will resist heat better than the Ultra Black (especially good for the back of the intake with the extra heat from the EGR).

Whatever type you choose, go with black. Nothing looks worse than orange or blue RTV oozing out the front of your motor! Yuck!

Mine is red.

No need to worry about the heat from the EGR here either.

Ultra Copper, or the Right Stuff by Permatex. The only two I trust for intake manifolds. BTW that tube that comes with the gaskets IS NOT enough for the intake.
