Default Have any of you done this?

Have any of you converted to the LS1 PCM on your LT1? There is a company (EFIConnection.com) that sells the conversions for it. Just wondering since I have never seen that before.

You'd have a higher rpm limit.
You'd also have the benefit of using EFI live, HP Tuners, or similar tuning software.

There was a thread a while back about coverting to the LS1 PCM and coil pack system. It's not cheap.

That you don't have to worry about the opti taking a crap and that you can tune your LT1 with LS1 Edit, HP Tuners or any similar device by making the change of PCM's. I was searching there website and it looks bad a** what they did with the red Trans Am.

Are you kidding me? lol. That's the other primary reason for doing this swap.

Why would you want the opti if its one of the primary problems of the LT1's?

It's liek $525 for the physical parts for the swap and $850+ for a complete plug and play wiring harness, then you need the LS1 coil set up too... Big money for the swap but it would definitely be worth it on a highly modded car.

And, as an added benefit, an LS1's PCM is 'fast' enough to allow you to run a "dry" N2O MAF kit without the fear of getting a dreaded lean spike.

Just a thought...

because I and many of my friends have had little to no opti problems so don't fix what isn't broken

it's only a "primary problem of the LT1" because people are quick to use it as a scapegoat for any performance or reliability problem

seems like megasquirt would be cheaper/easier

That would be a much better idea...

One of the fastest cars I know is a '97 SS vert with a LS1/TH400 swap (stock untouched bottom end, ported LS6 heads, single plane, elbow, 100mm TB, huge cam, open LT headers, n2o, weight reduction, full cage, full suspension, ~4000 stall, 12 bolt) runs 9's consistently, and he can still drive it to run errands, lol. I almost cry everytime I see his SS hood clearanced on the underside for the single plan & elbow though.

Pretty much I'd have to blow up like 5-6 optis for this thing to pay for itself

I have zero opti problems and make peak power well below 7100rpm, not for me
