Merv's right... it's a PITA to get those lines free unless you make that other cut. Unfortunately, I never made that cut and just added an unnecessary 30 minutes to the job the first time.

Yes it is ALOT easier to cut than to drop the Tank. I did that a first time to replace the Fuel Pump with another stock one when it went out on me one day, then I went in there again to change over to a Walbro 255 for my LS Engine. It took about a half-hour to change it. Since then I've taken that Panel off for a few other things, it's a very big help.

Totally agree with merv- do the "L" shaped cut! Those damn lines took me forever to 'quick disconnect'. Of course we didn't think about cutting a notch until we got one of the lines disconnected and had gas all over - will wait until next time to do it!

Just curious on the people who used a cut off wheel? was there any problems with the sparks and the gas? thats what made me so nervous when i did mine so i ended up using tin snips and well lets just say its not near as clean of cuts and the pics in here. Is it save to use a cut off wheel say now that i did the pump change over two months ago and the gas that was dripped should be evaporated?

I'd wash down the top of the gas tank, personally, but I think it's safe...

I used the cutoff wheel in my pictures. Just go slow and take your time. If you go slow enough you won't make any sparks. The tank is sealed so there wouldn't be any vapors to ignite anyway. Don't cut too deep as the lines do lurk underneath.

I did the "L" like merv recommended. Made the disconnects very accessible. Not a bad mod, easy to access for the next time (gonna need dual pumps for the turbo mod). I used a Dremel, it used a lot of cutting wheels but was quite easy and safe. No way were the fuel lines in danger of being cut.
