not necessarily I've seen GM847 guys with stock heads peak around 5800rpm
I don't recommend much past 6300 for a stock shortblock for extended periods of time, due to the bolts liking to stretch (happened to me). but that's just imo
you're best bet is to speak with a cam grinder and have them help you get into a setup that will compliment your goals, they can grind a cam that will shift were you want it, drive like you want it, pass emissions, etc.
gears on a bolt on car are quite a boost let alone a cammed or h/c car. my buddy has a cc306 car with 2.73s and the thing pulls like a big turbo supra, so I wouldn't recommend it.
as for the cc503, I had one with stock heads and the car was still pulling on the dyno past 6400rpm.

I run patriot 195cc 2.02 1.60 65cc heads home ported on my LT1. With a 230/236 540/570 112 reground ebay cam, and vic jr, I put down 400rwhp and 383 ftlbs at 5800rpm. Now with a new custom grind, some more head work and other little changes/additions I hope to break the 430 mark on motor, and throw a 200 shot on it.
Edit: Cams for sale btw.

I am really interested in these heads. I will be buying the cam new, but I have not decided on what cam to go with yet, without porting them. Of course, some work will give more power, but my goals are not that high

How big a cam can I run with these on a 2.73 and a Yank Stealth 3000? I am shifting at 6K and intend to stay at 6K.
Street manners of the cam does not matter, its not my daily driver.

Dyno numbers without track numbers are interesting but not the whole story, there are setups that dyno great but just don't run.
The guy who keeps quoting the 847 as peaking at 5800 has little understanding of how this all works. If that cam peaks that low something is CHOKING it badly, repeating it gives people a false impression. Give that cam a good head, springs, induction and exhaust and will peak well beyond there.
Your focus on price and shipping cost is going to screw you in a big way.

never said it wouldn't pull higher with supporting heads, etc. why you feel the need to jump to conclusions and making assumptions that I don't know what I'm talking about simply because I said cam "A" peaks with stock heads is beyond me though.
I understand how combos can be limited by many factors, just like how I understand you're a douchebag

I have decided to get a CC503 on the stock heads with a 3.42 and a 3600 Vig, and call it a day. Thanks for your help everyone.

Tell me more about your set up? Gears? Stall? Have a dyno sheet I could see?
