Default Car Craft LT1 rebuild.

Did anyone else see that. This might have been posted already but oh well, here it is again.

I get all excited when I see a magazine do an article on LT1's. But then I get pissed off b/c the builds are crap. Car Craft did a 355 build with all Edelbrock parts. WHO BUILDS AN LT1 WITH EDELBROCK???? I mean, it just shows the LT1 as a POS when they do H/C/I and barely break 400hp at the crank. When there are tons of LT1's on here breaking 400 at the wheels with stock ported heads, cam and ported intake. Crap look at these numbers:

Stock
282hp @ 5300
339tq @ 3800

Performer heads, Performer cam, Edelbrock headers
345hp @ 5600
378tq @ 4200

Performer RPM intake/heads, Performer cam, Edelbrock headers
367hp @5200
404tq @4200

Performer RPM intake, heads, custom cam 218/224, LT headers, Tune
414hp @6000
402tq@4900

I mean the highest numbers 414hp with 20% drivetrain loss is only 331rwhp 332rwtq . Thats from H/C/I. Seems to me like this was a waste of a good article.

Im thinking if we voice it enough some one will listen and do a dyno shootout with parts and companies we actually use.

.............

Edelbrock is one of Car Crafts leading supporting sponsors. Of course they're going to use Edelbrock.

If walmart made a h/c package and it was free to a magzine, I bet you would see a walmart h/c 383 build in some magazine.

Its all about pleasing the sponsors. Yeah, I'd love to see a build off between A.I. and LE and maybe a few others thrown in. But those are smaller companies and the funding for advertisement is just not there

there was a recent article in GM High Tech Performance magazine where they did a 383 LT1...better than that holley crap. I saw the same article and as soon as I read what products they were using, I put the magazine down... Edelbrock FTL Heres a good link with some good buildups from the same mag... http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...ine/index.html
