Default 500 N/A HP in a 383?

well like the title says guys. i plan. well I WILL hit 500 HP in my 383 N/A can anyone give me any insight on what i defintaly need. or certain parts. mainly a cam to start out. which cam would be the best for my desired outcome. here is what i have to work with. right now. stock heads stock intake stock TB hypereunetic pistons and H beam rods. and a snapped eagle crank. i want to keep the stock heads just because this is also going to be a glorious budget build. and plan on hoooking the bottle up to it. JUST IN CASE maybe a 150 shot. the heads i know are gonna need port and polished and prolly bumped up to 2.02 valves with 1.6 or 1.7 rollers should be sufficient for the flow correct? the intake is just gonna be ported and polished for a 58MM and of course injectors to suit. NO A/C NO Smog. exhaust is a given.

Now that i got all the crazy crap out of the way. my questions:

What cam?
do i need forged pistons and rods?
and should i get the 4340 Crank from Eagle?

i plan on building the motor on my own. it will be my first full build completely by myself. anyone have any tips? i will have a book for all the specs. unless i find an amazing deal the car is gonna have to deal with the 10 bolt in the back until i can get the money up for that. but i know a stock t-56 will withold that power. cause its not gonna be a everyday drag car. hell its gonna damn near be a DD. i plan on driving it every chance i get.

But can someone please throw in some opinons on what route i should take PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

You'll need 4 bolt mains and 7+k rpm probably.

Good luck!

I don't beleive he'll make that to the rear wheels with any Ported stock LT1 head because it won't flow enough to do that. You should definitely get all forged rotating components and have splayed billet 4bolt caps installed. If you really want 500 rwhp get a set of SB 2.2 or 18* heads converted for LT1 use along with a single plane intake and a big solid roller cam and you can make it.

Please do a search. This topic has been covered quite aggressively in the past 8 years. Threads like this do one of two things. 1. Start fights 2. Lead people in the WRONG direction to build motors

A T56, well-tuned aggressive solid roller can reach 500whp easy, even with ported stock castings.
