Default tb question and stall question.

I have a stock tb and intake on a 95 lt1 firebird. If I were to buy a 58mm tb would it fit on my current intake?

If I went and bought a 2800 yank stall does that mean my car won't move until the selected rmp in reached?

thanks.

I'm gonna tell ya right now that unless u are putting out about 600 Horsepower a 58 mm T.B. is way to much T.B. for a mildly modded LT1.
The 52mm is plenty of T.B. and the 52mm will fit perfectly without porting so for your own good go with the 52 Bigger isnt always better!

you can do it however 58mm on a stock A4 is counterproductive car will never shift right without a tune! i would buy some Drag Radials with that money atleast that will allow you to use that stall..

cai or lid
stall
gear
1.6rr,springs etc.
DRs
longtubes
possibly a 52mm
TUNE,TUNE,TUNE

no your car will still move at 1200rpms or any given RPM.. it will just feel more "loose".. kinda like its slipping, but its not..

Alright guys that was QUICK! Sounds good this car is just planned on reaching 400hp after h/c plus the respected bolt-ons.

and thanks Lemons.

CAI,Exhaust,Gears I already have.
52mm tb would be just fine then for what I want.
What stall should I approach, I wanted to keep it under 3k because of my stock rear and plans for my car.

I want to get most of the intake done (cai, intake, tb and headers) then go for a tune, or is that too late

i dont see you hitting 400rwhp in an lt1 with just H/C through a stalled a4.. but who knows.

i love VIG... some other good choices are Yank or Circle D.. dont go cheap on the converter or you will regret it.. it will either make or break your entire setup..

if your doing the intake and then a stall soon after.. wait.. no reason to get a tune for just an intake if you have future mods planned shortly..

yes they can.. but you need to spend your money elsewhere.. unless you just have lots lying around..

electric water pump runs a minimum of 400$ (thats a used one of course with a good deal).. and you would be lucky to see 10rwhp out of it..

put that money into a rear, or your transmission.. or better heads.. etc etc etc..

Money is not a problem, I just seen a few for 150-200 around the classifieds. I'm just looking at smaller mods taking steps every month. I have money but most of it is going into a savings account to purchase a z06 sometime after this next winter.

Ok man thanks for the information, Also one more question before I leave this thread. My shifter is kinda gummed up it works, but my dad suggested I get a ratchet shifter. Is there any place where I could get a deal on one of these for my a4.

If you're looking for 400rwhp then that makes things tougher but if you're just looking for a stout street car making 400 hp at the flywheel then that's pretty easy to do. Stock rears do pretty well in auto's so I doubt going higher than a 2800 would be a problem.

I was just looking at this one:

YANK STEALTH 2800 LT1
298mm, 2800 Stall, 1.90 STRStock appearing converter that delivers a noticeable improvement in acceleration over stock. 3 tenths reduction in 1/4 times are common.

$500, I have $950 cash right now going to order this and a 52 mm tb from bbk or holley.

Not planning on running it on track until the 26th, so tires will come then.

if you wanted to save some cash, you can just get a stock ported 52mm or 54mm off ebay.

To the guy that says you can't make 400HP on a heads/cam LT1, you're wrong. That is actually very obtainable. There is even one member making 500whp on the stock bottom end, N/A.

re-read what i said please..

i didnt say you couldnt.. i said it is not probable.. because it isnt..

most ls1 a4s have a difficult time clearing the 400rwhp mark by a good margin.. so you cant tell me for a second the chances for an lt1 making that are "very" attainable..

you need to remember, were talking stalled a4s with gears.. not m6s..
i promise you that 500rwhp (which i doubt it makes this to the ground, or it is a VERY VERY generous dyno.. please correct if im wrong) is an m6.. probably has low gears.. does not have a 9 inch or 12 bolt small street tires.. etc etc etc..
