ok...so i was going to seafoam the top end today, did just as the instructions say and have the car warmed up cut it off and pull the brake booster hose. in the write up it says the rpm's will jump up to 2-3k when restarted. why is it that mine won't stay running and cuts off??

You are pouring it in while it is running correct? If so, pour it slowly and dont allow the car to die, then on the last little bit, pour enough to make the car die out, then let it sit for about 15-20 minutes and run the **** out of it.

If you are pouring it down the brake booster, and then attempting to start it, you are going to evenually hydrolock your car if you pour enough. The idea is to do it while running so that the mist from the seafoam will coat your intake, and cylinders.

unless hes useing 3 cans there not to much, i dump a can through the booster, a can in the fuel and if im doing it near a oil change a can in the crankcase. Keep your car running, itll die if the booster looses vacuum so either have ur finger or an object over it when not pouring and when pouring pour slowly as to not flood and kill the motor, when the can or half can w/e ur useing it empty let it die or shut it off, connect everything back up and let it sit 15-20 mins, then start it up let it idle for 2 or 3 mins then drive it frist at low rpms jumping around the rpm range to coat everything then get you a nice long stretch and drive it like your trying to blow it up lol.

Mine did the same thing at first, it would just die out as soon as i took the hose off. Give it a min or two after you take the line off keep it running by giving it some gas then it will rev up to where they say @ 2500 RPM's i believe. Then you can start pouring it in

OP, just djjab57 said it might take few trys to get the engine to start because of the massive vacuum leak. It should start eventually and you can continue with the seafoam procedure.
I just seafoamed my buddy's car a couple weeks ago and a shitload of smoke came out. Pissed off the neighbors. Car drives a bit better now too, results were nothing drastic though.

ok well...never got it to idle on its own, so i got my gf to hold it at 2500rpm while i poured the seafoam in. 8oz. of it and got her to shut it off once i finished pouring it and waited 20 mins. to restart it and it smoked a little and a couple times when i got on driving but that was it. so it must not have been too dirty.

there is a seafoam write up on ls1tech somewhere...tells you how to add from brakebooster...how much to put in tank, oil and the TB spray..its a great write up
you're supposed to pour a little at a time..like they said ..not enough to kill it..then the last bit you're supposed to pour in quickly so it kills itself

I've heard such great things about seafoam but I am reluctant to try it for the first time in my LT1 with 160K?
It runs very well so I don't know if it is worth any risk at this point.

Mine also smoked at idle for 10-15 minutes, took it out and it was gone.
My car wouldn't idle with the brake booster hose disconnected either.
I just assumed it was a clean car.
