Ohhh the irony.
My MAF is not cleaned, and is also ported and descreened with a nice red powdercoat.
All that with no horrible repercussions. I guess it just depends sometimes.

You will need a cam to get to 320rwhp. It normally jumps from ~300 with bolt-ons only to ~330-350 with cam only. The Comp 503 is a good cam like others have said for the stock heads, but I'd be sure to upgrade most of the valvetrain with any type of cam that you go with. LS7 lifters, 1.6 RR's, hardened pushrods, beehive springs, etc...

it does. there are 2 things that will happen. you will either run like ****, or run fine. if you run like ****, which most people do, your PCM cant figure out the A/F ratio due to the descreen. The other thing that can happen is that it will lean your A/F ratio out temporarily, but your computer will adjust and go back to the normal ratio. the reason i say dont ever touch the MAF is because most people destroy the screen when they do descreen it, so if they mess up they have to shell out extra money for a new MAF. Unless you are running bigger cubes, the stock TB and MAF will work just fine

I de-screened mine but I had it tuned and adjusted for that.
