Default How to remove...

So how the heck do our windshield wipers come off? The whole unit itself...I've got the nut off that sits under the plastic shroud but the wiper arm itself will not slide up free from the threaded bolt.

Thanks!

I think you can just pull up on it really hard. They have a softer metal inside them like lead or something. Mine stripped out while it was raining and the wiper just stopped halfway up the windshield.

They always get stuck. Use a puller.

Resist the urge to pry on it with a screwdriver. You risk cracking the glass underneath the cowling.

Thanks for the tips...I didn't want to pry on it too hard. I will give them a little more elbow grease. Replaced my burnt spark plug wire and burnt 02 wire today. It idles much nicer and feels more peppy now. I need to get it back on the dyno. I think I will see 405+ now that those are replaced and it's broke in

I have a little tiny Pry Bar that works perfect for the Wipers. You just have to give them a good kick and they come off.

i usually hit the sides with a hammer to loosen them up. then bend them like you were changing the blades and pull up. wiggle a little bit too. should come free.

The 97 or 98-up ones differ a little. I used them to put on the newer style wiper blades.

Went to the junk yard today. pulled a wiper off a 95 or 96. Ended up cracking the winshield using a angled screw driver. It was different than the 98. Get home and use the same screw driver on my car and no luck. i was careful not to crack the windshield so it is still stuck will try again tomorrow.

Wiper puller $15.00 from advanced auto. Can I put 93-96 wipers on my 98. If I don't get any answers I'm going to try it anyway and then will let you know. I'm changing my nose from a 98 to a 96 next year so I figured I might as well go back to the old wipers, John

take the easy way......fold the wiper up so the tip points up in the air......then grab it at the bottom, right where it folds and start wiggling. It'll come off in no time.....Years of playing with them has done wonders
