Lpe cai?

Lpe cai?
I recently finished up the exhaust side of my engine, and think opening up the intake side would compliment the exhaust. I was told the SLP CAI wasnt going to be terribly benificial due to heat sink, and that the K&N intake was my best best, but what about the LPE (lingenfilter cai for camaros)? Its signifigantly cheaper, is there anything worth paying extra for in the K&N?
Also gunna go with a smooth elbow if that matters at all.

Cold air intakes are all the same. I suggest getting the LPE if you must buy a new one as its cheaper, the same thing and since it comes with a bigger filter. I have one on my car and it helped a little bit with mileage, and with the cat back I just put on really really woke the car up. It's about 150 bucks, making it the cheapest out there unless you make one, or if you prefer, you could buy one for cheaper on here.

Horse manure. The SLP is absolutely fine. A friend of mine who lives in TX (the moderator of the TX forum on CZ28.com) with his bolt-on '97 Z28 saw low 13 to high 12 second runs at 107mph using a SLP CAI running in the TX heat. Whatever CAI you use will be fine. Just a matter of personal choice. I have the LPE CAI and love it. Only gripe I've had with it is having a sealing issue between the MAF and bellows, but has been easily fixed.

some people actually have had problems w/ the K&N, me being one of them, the ABS unit keeps the elbow from going as low as it should keeping the filter pressed against the body where it goes through resulting in (if not REALLY tight) the filter coming off.
