What springs are you guys using for these aggressive ramps? Rates and pressures would be great (Details!). Also, what lifters as well....Thanks!
Tim, SpeedMiser on HFB moved up to a X.E cam. He'd be more than happy to help you out on the springs. This next summer if I'm not to busy with school I want to do an X.e 224/230. Prolly re-use my stock lifters. Also Kevin, Slim he had a X,e 230/236 in his 97 TA, he ran Comp "R" lifters in it. If any thing I'll prolly use the IRS .550 double coil springs. If I was going biggeer Combo Motor Sports has some nice springs rated to .600

I've got some things on the table I need to figure out so I need to see what kind of springs guys are running with these aggressive lobes to get an idea on some things... I am running the XE 214/224 0.565/0.606
Springs are comp 977's, installed height is 1.85. Average seat pressure (measured) was 162psi. At 0.600" compression average pressure was 426psi.
I am running these with comp R lifters. Haven't bolted on the blower, but NA haven't had any problems

Thanks for the info. Are you running comp r's for insurance or....? I need to control the spring and thats where we may be running into issues. Right now I've got a few different cams on the table I'm looking at but we are limited severely on springs (Don't have room for a serious spring). Since my heads have the incredible low lift we are looking at the XE series stuff since the ramps are so aggressive and works within my limitations of the puter.
the stock lifters can handle a XE lobe with ease, but many chose to go with Comp R lifters for re-assurance. I am using comp replacement lifters and not he R series with my Comp Cams 224/230 cam and spin it to 6500 daily. I am using the Comp 987-16 dual springs.
P.S. Rick used stock lifters in "TheTurtle's" old motor(383 and 306 cam and spun it to 6800 RPM's all the time) and never had an issue.

I'm just running the comp R's because I had 100k on the old lifters, and figured I might as well swap over. Basically cheap insurance. The 430lb spring pressure was pretty high though, don't know how the stock lifter would have been working against that - and didn't want to find out

What's the biggest diameter spring you can fit?

Anyway, if I can find a deal on some R's I will be otherwise I'll just re-use the stock style. I have a brand new set anyway.
The biggest diameter spring I can fit is about 1.3. Yea, I know...
I am running the 230/236 cam with Manley springs #'s 22400-16 inner 22427-16 outer set at 1.8" installed height 135# seat 350#'s open @ .550.
