header install help

My friend is swapping his motor in his 93 Z Camaro and he bought some Pacesetter long tube headers and he has the motor out should he go ahead and put the headers on or should he wait till he gets the motor back in then put them on. The motor was pulled from top and is going back in from the top

Thanks to anyone with info

Stick them in when the Engine goes in.. kinda keep it a few inches above the mounts when you install them if you can, it will make life a little easier.

No way the headers go back in from the top.

Do yourself a favor and drop out he k-member and put the engine together complete and install it all together from the bottom. Much easier.

Thanks guys i will let him know, is there a specific type of gasket he should get ? ive heard that the ones that come with the headers SUCK

you guys use a cherry picker to lift the car up like that?

Where are the strap points use guys used to lift?

Yeah, the gaskets I got with my PS LT's looked very cheap. So I went to my local Autozone and found a nice pair of SBC copper header gaskets. Works very well, and it had hooks on the ends for either pair of bolt holes.

Yes. Used a heavy duty strap and looped it around the radiator support. You can see in the second picture where the strap is coming down and around the bottom of the radiator support. The front of the car with no engine is not that heavy, considering that the back of the car is still touching the ground.
