Have any of you heard of a all aluminuim lt1 Someone told me they make the blocks aluminuim somewhere and if so i want one but am not sure he knew what he was talking about Please let me know something if its true

More than likely they were talking about the LS1..or LS series.. or possibly a SB2..or an LT5.

Only 2 made by the same guy had them both converted 1 for his imp and sold the other to a camaro owner.

Alum is way lighter and dissapates heat much quicker. This is why most heads these days are made of alum and also regarding alum heads you can go with higher comp then steel heads as you don't have as much heat soak whick helps prevent premature detonation. The alum block is not that much better and they are a whole lot harder to correctly bore and line hone as alum tends to flex alot more when it's hot. Yeah they can make great power, just look at the LS series motors, but I prefer the feel of the iron blocks, plus I'm not worried every time I tighten down an excessory or oilpan bolt that I'm gonna strip out the alum.
