Porting will help, but AFRs already have big 2.02/1.6 valves. Even though larger valves significantly increases low lift flow you don't want to go too big on the valves on a small bore engine since they are easily shrouded.

so if I already have 2.02/1.65....what would be a good size? And what is the best brand of valves? Manley?

If you're using guideplates, most likely your rockers are NSA. Which means you shouldn't use your stock pushrods.

I dont know if the guide plates are being used though...they came with the AFR heads, but these rockers did NOT come with them, so I dont know if he took them off or not. How would I tell???

to the OP

the "way" you described adjusting the RR if i understand your method sounds wrong.

To snap pushrods on start up attempt....something is WAY wrong with the valve train set up . This assumes cam is installed correctly and you did in fact start at #1 TDC and adjusted correctly.

NSA vs SA RR...a "SA" will have tabs or washers at the ends (side) of roller tip to keep it on the valve stem. NSA do not and require hardened guide plates

I know there is an indention in the bottom of the rockers where the spring sits. like a little notch cut out fot the springs.

I already said I know the cam was installed wrong. I fucked that up. So I know what I need to do now.

New valves (bent a few), new hardened pushrods, and re-install the cam ensuring I hit TDC and get it at the correct degree. That is where I messed up. Completely effing brainfarted TDC and the degree........I was stupid. dicked it up...now I am paying for it.

HOPEFULLY I only have bent valves and not jacked up pistons...

ok, after looking at the rockers that counted out put up, I know I have SA rockers. Mine look exactly like these http://www.mountainperformanceonline..._p/scp1036.htm except they are Crane Cams Gold Aluminum 1.6 RR instead of Scorpions....

Good luck getting it back together, I think your best option is to back-up to the beginning step one. Pull it down to the short block and have a compentent shop look at your valve's. Then make sure the #1 is at TDC when installing you cam this is probaly where it went wrong the first time,

I need to know what else I could have or definately did mess up when this happened!
Anyway... when you state:
I got it all back together, and went to turn it over...didnt even crank...
Sounds like you had a valve contacting a piston to where the weakest link finally gave away (pushrod). Whenever you do anything with the valvetrain/timing you should ALWAYS hand turn the motor over to make sure there is nothing coming into contact. If a piston did indeed contact a valve I would not be the least bit surprised if you bent a valve or two. If it were me I'd take the heads off to see. You just may of cost yourself even more money, and if you ignore the possible problem it may cost you even more...

it goes back together...you can put the cam in wrong all day...

I have admitted I fucked up! I didnt put #1 at TDC and I didnt pay attention to the marks or the degrees on anything.

I made the mistake. I KNOW I bent at least 3 valves...I KNOW I broke 4 chromemoly pushrods and bent 1.

I AM taking it back down to short block and redoing EVERYTHING!

Brand new Manley Valves, Brand New PROPERLY REMEASURED chromemoly pushrods, all new gaskets, and making 100% SURE I set cylinder #1 at TDC and install the cam at the correct degree!

That starts tomorrow! I already ordered all of my gaskets, I have my Copper Silicone, I have my Permatex High Temp/High Strength Red Threadlocker, I will order my valves today and my new pushrods once I get a good length on them!
