The 8.5" got a strenght boost in '89 the pinion is the same diameter as a 12-bolt and it went 30 spline. So it is stronger than the older 8.5" stuff. Strong enough for delaiable 10s in a b-body and with a little extra effort reliable 9s in a b-body.

Actually the 3rd Gen and 4th Gens are the same width as far as Rear Axles go.. the Body width's are what is different, the 3rd Gen is wider.

I didn't believe it till I slid my old 10-bolt under one and saw it for myself.

Yeah the spelling is horrible.

Anyone have pics of the G Force kit installed? I'm kinda interested, but not too sure about it. I'd really like to do the G force kit for added room for exhaust and easier to swap rear ends, but on the other hand the TA setup works pretty good and I already have all UMI rear suspension. But then with the G Force kit it takes the load off the rear axle housing so 6 speed guys could use a 12 bolt and have it hold up

Hmmmm now I'm thinking LOL

if you click the 8.8 build link in my post you will see the similar home fabricated version on a members car....

a simple spelling error that would make one think twice about purchasing a part is pretty picky! i mean come on, i hope you were just making a joke like the rest of the grammar ***** found here. lol

LOL I give everyone **** for spelling "camero" there was a kid in my town that put a camero sticker on the back window of his car it took him about 3 weeks to figure out what I was talking about.

I'll check the link, but I honestly may have some suspension for sale here in a little while

start looking for a 3rd gen dana 44. direct bolt in, but you'll need spacers for the wheels, and you have to experiment with the abs/tcs

It's pretty well documented that the 3rd Gen rear is 1.5" narrower per side than the 4th Gen rear.

The one laying in my garage backs up my statement.

Yeah, they are narrower. My buddy swapped a 4th gen posi rear end into his 3rd gen and it stuck out a little with the rims he had. He got some different rims with a different offset and it was fine.

I've thought about going to a 3rd Gen chassis if my Car gets wrecked. I know my Moser will bolt up so that helps, I just wish the Front Brakes could be upgraded.

Hey:

Why can't they, I've seen plenty of third gens with LS1 brakes and a couple of 3rd gens with C5/C6 Z06 brakes.. one here on this forum, its all about the wheels.. Spike Zs LSX powered 86 IROC is amazing.

That's cool.

I mean as far as making the front off set match the rear offset so I could run my Z06 Rims all around. That and run my LS1 Front Brakes.

Quick Reply: B-Body 8.5" in F-body?
