I used mine like this on my turbo setup, at 3000rpm I could be on the floor building 8lbs of boost. I don't think you'll see any gain though on a non turbo car.

Not quite the same but close. I set the Mallory 685 box 2-step to enable when I flip a toggle switch, then when I stage and press the brake pedal, a signal goes thru the toggle switch (which get's it's power from the brake light)into the 685 box's 2 step wire. This allows me to run the rpm up to what the 2 step is set for. Let off the brake and take off. A line lock won't hold an auto in the staging beams by itself. I use the LL only for burnout. the 2 step just allows me to launch at a consistant rpm.

Ok, so your brakes can only hold so much rpm. Do any companies make a trans-brake for the 4L60E that arent so high priced?

Thats not what he said. He said the "line lock" wont always hold an auto car. The brake pedal with 2 step engaged will hold the car just fine

Only to a certain point depending on how loose the converter is made. With my turbo setup I could go as high as 3200 before the car would push through on the 2 step.

Yes, it all depends on what your 2-step is set for, and how well your brakes hold. My converter is a Vigilante 3200 and I only set the 2-step for 2500 to get a consistent launch. That's what works best for me.
