knock sensor install

97 lt1, 355,long tubes,236/236 cam,1.6 rockers ,madz tune,knock sensor desencitized,when i installed my knock sensor i put sealent on threads. i am getting 8-10 deg knock retard. could the sealent affect knock sensor? any help.

If sealant were affecting the sensor it would be in a negative way (meaning you would see less knock-not more).

Where are you from and what grade of fuel are you using and where are you seeing these readings in the rpm band?
