Question Fouling O2s with new headers?

I am installing a set of Pacesetter painted long tube headers, and I remember reading that the inside coating or paint burning off can ruin my O2 sensors.

Does this only apply to ceramic coated or just painted, or both?

Now, thats something I am not interested in doing, especially since an O2 sensor in Bahrain costs 150$ a piece at the dealership.

The only way would be to run them open without the O2 sensors, but the engine will run like crap of course. I want the first engine heat cycle for the cam break in to go smooth.

Help?

Dude, just leave the 02's out and get the headers hot, and let it burn off.

Dont know why you're concerned with the cam "break in" as there is technically no such thing with a hydraulic roller cam.

Erm, does the cam not have to seat itself to the cam bearings?

I was advised to crank the engine, check for leaks and let it run until it gets to operating temperature, then turn it off and leave it to cool down to ambient temperature.

I am also installing a new set of head gaskets.

Trying to avoid screwing anything up as I have put a lot of time and money into this build.

theres no "seating" of cam bearings, no conforming is going to occur. thats why dirty installs will kill your bearings quickly. now i might recommend a good heatcycling of your new valvesprings before zinging it up to redline, and id run around without the o2s for a few days.
