96 lt1 optispark question, please help! i have a 1996 firebird that since ive had it hasn't run like it ran for the previous owner
the old owner ran low 13's with intake exhaust and 3.73's
now i have the car and i have intake exhaust 3.73's, 58mm intake manifold, 58mm throttle body, ecu, hyperground grounding kit, bbk shorty headers, electric cutout, throttle body bypass, intake silencer removed, Airfoil,
and i'm running 13.9-14.4
when the car is out in the rain and gets wet sometimes it won't start, and otherwise it is very had to start
it will spark and turn over but won't completely start up.
and once i do get the wet car started it is very sluggish and drives like ****.
i've been told that the problem is my opti spark.
could the opti spark be the reason the car isn't running anything like it had before?
im trying to get my car running in low 13's and 12's like it used to, would a dying opti spark be the cause of my speed decrease?

From what you listed I would expect the car to go mid 13's. Has it been tuned for your mods? If it only runs bad when its wet out then its likley electrical. It could be the opti but before you throw parts at it has it set any codes? When was the last time you checked the wires, you mentioned shorty headers it's very possible you've burned a wire.

i checked all the wires are fine
yes the car has been tuned for all the mods
and i have a time slip from the previous owner of a 13.34 run with headers cold air intake exhaust and gears
then i bought from a dealer 3 months later
nothing was changed on the car

Could be any variety of things... I found on my car when it was stock a4, when I had my 17" Hopsters on it, it wouldn't break 14's. When I ran my stock 16" wheels it would run 13.7's all day. What have you changed since you owned the car? Have you compared the time slips...where are you losing compared to him... 60', MPH, where is the car slowing down... Is it a4 or m6?

i i hadn't changed anything at all then i ran it twice after i got it
and i ran 14.6-14.7 all day
sadly i don't have his time slip anymore..
and since i bought the car after the first race
i added a new ported throttle body and a ported intake, air foil, grounding kit, electric cutout, did the tb bypass mod and donkey dong remove mod. and got the pcm tuned for everything
that got me down to 13.98 once and 14.1-14.2 pretty consistantly

When my car did the same thing, run like **** in the rain, or stall out in the rain, and take about 5-10 min. to start back up. it was bad wires, cracked around the boots that go into the opti.
