go with the ceramics. rust only comes in one color and thats what you'll end up with after the paint bakes.

I just installed the painted headers a couple weeks ago. I'd rather have it completely uncoated than with paint... Basically you'll smell burnt spray paint for about a week while it smokes and flakes off the headers.

I've also heard, though, that the ceramic eventually chips off. Damned if you do, damned if you don't? If you're on a budget, get the painted headers and don't waste $100 for the ceramic. Otherwise, go with another brand and get some stainless steel.

Or here's an option... buy the painted headers, and have them professionally ceramic coated black, which takes the most heat.

Neither. Both the painted and coated pacesetters are junk. You get what you pay for

I wouldn't buy Pacesetters again, but they are definitely not "junk".

I would find some stainless steel headers that aren't from ebay.

I've heard they have tiny fitment issue but are well worth it for stainless.

Ceramic coated AND stainless is where it's at. I have a set of LPPs from the first batch.

Most ceramic coating comes off because of the condition of the steel underneath - not because the coating is crap.

Many LT1 guys run Pacesetters and have no qualms about them.

The ceramics are worth it imo. I have installed both lt1 and ls1 pacesetter LTs and the are definatly not junk. For a 1 3/4" header they are the best bang for the buck.

I have Pacesetter LTs with their own ceramic coating, and my friend has Pacesetter LTs with Jethot coating. Mine are showing rust flecks after one year, my friend's still look perfect after 2 years...

The coating Pacesetter uses is ****! I agree, the only way I would run them is to buy the painted ones and have them coated with a GOOD coating by a reputable company.

either one will start to rust. i find the cermaic uglier when they start to rust. my painted ones still look decent from the engine bay. the collectors are rusty. not bad for 2 wisconsin winters IMO.

Default Headder Paint

I bought a set of headders for my ole school small block, they come with black paint already, I cleaned them, painted them with I think is was VHT ceramic paint out of a can and unbelievably the paint is still on, hasn't peeled, flaked and it has been about 1500 miles so far. What I did do is after installation, I started the motor and let it warm up for about a minute, let it cool then did it again for like 2 minutes then once more for 3 minutes to hopefully heat cure. Don't know if this helped but the paint is still on...

I bought the painted ones and sandblasted them and painted them with high temp silver paint 3 coats. Once everything was done i turned the car on and off a bunch of times letting the paint bake in. About a week after driving it they started flaking already. If i could do it over again i would of got the ceramic.
