Default Breaking in Gears

i should be ordering my 4.30s soon and i know the normal procedure is to drive the car 500 miles before beating the **** out of it but my car doesnt see the street. how can i break them in?

It's not so much the miles as it is heat cycles. Drive for a bit, then let them cool down. Repeat this for a few hundred miles and you should be good to go.

If your car doesn't see the street much, maybe it should.

lol Joe my car isnt as streetable as yours is, no airbags, carpet, power steering, no nothing really and it just screams pull me over. would throwing it up on jack stands work?

i wouldnt worry about it. just do your normal warmup at the track and go to it. the heat cycle thing is mainly for quietness.

it doesnt take much to heat them up.. take it down the street a few times

i could probably heat cycle them on the lift, or do they need to have a load on them?

I'm just quessing, but I would think that putting a load on them is required. As mentioned, put a few heat cycles in the new gears and your good to go.

Ive never really taken any cautions with new gears, making sure they are setup correctly during the install is really the important piece.
