Default Car wont start after B&M ProStick Intalled?

Installed the B&M ProStick that I bought at a swap meet awhile back. Go to start the car and will not start. Im guessing that it is because the computer doesnt realize its not in park or something like that. I "plugged" the wires back into the factory shifter and turned the key and it started right up, unplugged them and it wouldnt start.

So how do I go about by passing the factory start only in park thing? Im guessing this would have been in the instructions but since I bought it at a swap meet (and it was set up for a TH350 so I had to change plates also) the instructions are long gone.

You will need 12v power to the wire in cavity F of the transmission range selector plug when you want to start the engine. That gives power to operate the Theft Deterrent Relay (TDR), so the starter will engage.

All connectors have markings on them with labels A,B,C...

You could use the 12v switched power that comes in on cavity C. The only thing I don't like about this way is that the relay wll stay operated all the time the ignition is on. Normally it is only going to be operated in PARK or NEUTRAL.

I didn't say cut anything. You can bridge them with Scotch connectors. Most of these shifters have ways to make them work with the car's wiring. You might want to see if you can find some instructions before you hack up anything.

It may not hurt, but I just don't like the relay being on all the time when it is only needed during start.

you could always use the Scotch connectors and have them on a toggle switch. This will also serve as a security measure for your car. Just one more thing to keep someone from starting your car up.

+1, I made a rocker switch and hid it under my seat.
