383 Machine Work
It was a local shop. As mentioned above, find a shop with a good reputation
and an understanding of how an LT1 differs from a SBC.
I also had them half-fill the block ($300) and install 4-bolt studded splayed mains ($500 + $300 for the caps/studs).
Neither is a requirement for a typical 383, but I wanted to make sure
I didn't have to go back and do this over again later if I decided to go heavy on the N20 later.
If you plan to run head studs (again, optional, but good insurance)
have them installed BEFORE they do the boring. It will help keep everything round.


So where did you get these prices? Could I get my block done there?
