Help!! Steering Shaft problems
Anyone ever have this problem?
I have finished putting everything back in after doing my cam swap!
Everything except my steering shaft. The bolts on both ends of the shaft that clamp down will not thread through on the other side. I have no clue how to get them to line up or get through to the other side. They just thread till theres about 1/4 inch of the bolt left showing and it just spins. So I know its not going into the threads on the other side.
I'm completely stuck and have no idea what to do =/
EDIT: The part is the steering shaft coupler (the shaft that contains the rag joint and both U-joints). The Bolts on both ends of the coupler wont thread all the way through.

The linkage sits on both of ends of the shaft right, the bolt just will not go through to the threads on the other side. The bolt itself is not stripped. It may have to do with the fact that I had to put a flat head through the opening to open up the part that claps onto the steering column and rack and pinion. I had to do this because when I originally put it on it would not just slip onto the shafts.
However, it was still really tight pushing them onto the shafts. So I don't think this would have caused my problem.

I ran into this same problem. Just a few things to try -
-Make damn sure you're putting it on the right way (skinny side up).
-Make damn sure the bolts for the linkage aren't bent. It's pretty easy for them to bend ever so slightly because they bear load when at full lock.
-Make damn sure the bottom portion is seated FLAT against the rack (most important part).
-Make damn sure that the concave part of the male end of the rack is on the correct side of the shaft (lower end). You'll see that the shank of the bolt engages the rack when it passes through the bracket.
