Default Cam and intake

I got a decent size oil leak out of the opti or water pump seal, so i figure if i have to go that deep into it again i may as well slide a lumpier stick in there since i already have springs, promags, and hardened pushrods. I have a stock intake that i cut the top of the plenum to open up the runners and actually get some tapper in them, because half of them have a smaller cross sectional width in the intrance than the exit does I will probably cut the heads to match and open up the pushrod pinch a bit. I cant decide on the camshaft though. Im thinking either the cc503 or the 466XFI piece. I have a stock converter now and when i rebuild the tranny i plan on putting a stock GM S10 converter in it. I really dont care for much stall because i mostly run street tires, so i know thats a rather conservative converter. Right now its making 285/312 at the tires with 4.10s. I would like to see around 340. Runs 13.0s now.

get a bigger stall. a 2800-3200 at least. you will regret it if you skimp on the stall.

what he said. I imagine an "s10 stall" is probably around like a 2000 or so vs the stock 1600~ rating. waste of money imo, might as well just save up for a quality unit

Im not really interested in alot of stall. i know more would be quicker but its not what i want. My car now will hardly stall 1300 RPMs ive seen my s10 flash in the 2300-2400 range, so behind an lt1 in a heavier car it should flash atleast 2500 which is fine with me. With the 3.06 low gear in the 4l60 and 4.10s it should do what i want it to. The torque multiplication is awesome in the converter in my truck. Ive cut 2.0s 60 footers with it with a weak ole vortec 4.3, but it wont fall out of a tree past the 60 foot cone.

I would put the cc503 in long before I would the XFI466 IMO. Buddy has the XFI466 and he likes it but it doesn't come close to performing as good as my car did cam-only with the cc503. He dynoed 322rwhp/330rwtq with full exhaust, tune, and thru a 6-speed. I dynoed 328rwhp/335rwtq with same mods but through an auto. Even me being the auto I still trapped more MPH in the quarter (110mph). If you want a sleeper cam though than I recommend the XFI because you can barely hear it lope. Also, both have comparably similar drivability characteristics.

i Kinda figured as popular as the cc503 is, it would be the one to go with. I know its a proven performer and it will be a lil more friendly on the valvetrain. This things got over 160k miles on it so im bout to see what its made of lol. I already have tranny problems so its seen 6500 rpms quite a bit lately.
