Default oil adapter

So now that the oil cooler was removed from the motor, what part do I need for the oil filter to screw onto? I tried a Mr. Gasket oil adapter, that results in 5 qts. of oil in your driveway. This is the last part we need for this car. This is the Formula where I am putting the LT1 in from a Impala.

its just a regular old SBC oil filter adaptor. take the one off the oil cooler and grind down the studs till they look like bolts or just go buy one from advance for about $8

That might work if it was a fbody LT1, but the cooler was different on this b body motor.

By the way, I thought I ordered a regular old SBC adapter. Well we looked at the packaging and its for pre-65 GM small and big blocks.

Since we are talking about oil fittings and such, i have a question about oil pumps, how often do those nylon bushings go out? i have no oil coming through my pushrods from the lifters, yet im at 5 quarts, car reads 42 psi on start-up, but still no oil in the valvetrain, so now i have bad lifters... anyone with oil pump experience help?

Is this going to work? It still looks strange to me though. A few parts websites list this as working for a LT1 though.

that looks exactly like what i bought but it was a lot cheaper. i should have been more specific when i said regular old SBC by saying 86 and up hydraulic roller. i had to steal one off an 86 305 for a month before i ordered one.

OK so you used one like in my link? Does it accept the regular size filters, like PL20049? The Impala oil cooler used a smaller filter like you would see on a 4 wheel drive truck.

I guess looking at it only makes me worry as it doesn't look like it would sit flat, or do they not do that? I guess I have to get the wrong one off and look up there again.

yep it still uses the 20049 filter. i have done 6 oil+filter changes and there is absolutely no fitment/leakage issues after 3600 miles on the new motor.

here is the label from the box of the replacement i bought.

here is the one from the 305 i used (it was accidentally left out in the rain for a week when i no longer needed it)
