Default Security light ?

my SECURITY LIGHT is on

the othere night comeing back from hunting in the streets haha my SECURITY LIGHT came on when i was driveing the car still terns off and on like normal but the SECURITY LIGHT just stays on when i have that key in the on position so what im asking is what can caus this and how do i fix it THANKS

go to dealer and get a new ignition key .. the security chip contacts get wore down
over time causing poor contact in lock cylinder ..resulting in security light staying on .
had same problem with my formula a few years back .

try cleaning the key with rubbing alcohol and use a napkin with a little rubbing alcohol on it and clean the inside of the key cylinder..


i rubbed oil on my buddy chip one day as a "joke" and that happend.. cleaned everything with rubbing alcohol and it works fine now..

My security light was always on but the car stated right up so I just removed the bulb.

Before you go buying new keys or lock cylinder do a little investigation work... you can check SHbox for the wiring info... then get a multimeter and check the resistance on your key itself. Then, put the key in the ignition and check the correct wire under the dash to see if your getting that same reading. If you get the same reading, its not your key or the cylinder. Start checking for wiring thats broke or maybe its your BCM/VATS module itself.

Yes, or bypassing it by jumping across the VATS wires with a resistor that matches the value of the chip in the key. Takes about 5 minutes.
