Arrow 2 important questions.

Okay i have an 96 LT1 fully rebuilt, comp cam, LT pacesetters. Unfortunately i have not tuned my car. Honestly i dont know much about tuning a vehicle and stuff. Do i need a tune? Where can i find a decent one? Who do i get this done?

2nd: I run LT Pacesetter and stock cat-back. I WILL NOT BE BUYING CAT BACK EXHAUST due to me running my own style of piping under the car. But i am looking for a great muffler. Im wanting a deep, loud, somewhat throaty sound.

I have looked somewhat on jegs and seemed to like the cherry bombs. But honestly i dont know what to get. Please give me the best recommendations on this! Thank you

i have a 95 trans am with a flowmaster muffler and it sounds like what you are dicribing if not check youtube that may help

There're all kinds of tuning software that you can use with a computer, but if you don't know anything about tuning then you need to take that car to a place who will put that car on a 'dyno; it's the only way to do it. With the 'mods you've listed I wouldn't even try to drive the car without a tune. You could also do a mail order tune, but compared to putting the car on rollers that'd be the half-assed way to do it, IMHO...

okay thanks, can i get a bit more info on tuning? Like how does it work, does it increase HP?

You can start with a mail order tune from Ion at MadZ, Brian Herter at PCMforless or Trifecta and custom tune from there. Any of those as well as some others I'm not aware of can at least get your tune in the ballpark. I personally have always used Ion at MadZ for all of my LT1s ( I'm on my 4th now) and have always gotten great results. As a matter of fact he's doing a tune for my new setup, all forged & splayed 383, LE3 heads & LE ported intake, 42# injectors, 847 cam and I shold be getting my pcm by the end of this week or early next week.

You need a tune. Madz28 or PCMForless can get you in the ballpark, as mentioned. But putting it on the dyno is the best way.
If you do go mail order, you have two choices: Either mail your pcm to them and let them tune it, or put down a deposit and send them your original when you get theirs.
lt1pcmtuning.com is for OBDI vehicles (yours is OBDII) but it has some good information.
It will increase horsepower, and make it run more efficiently.
The SLP Loudmouth II is another muffler option. I personally avoid glasspacks, but that's just me.

okay then ima stick with a dyno then, and for muffler im going with the moroso. Damn i guess ill need to call around in texas for a dyno. BTW i live in dallas

Hey, I live in Dallas too! The only local place that I know of that still does LT1 tunes is in Keller Texas, which is about 15 minutes north of Ft. Worth. The name of the shop is A&S Automotive and the owner is Scott Whitehorn. He has an in house dyno. If you can somehow have the car towed or trailered, you can let Moe Bailey do it. I have heard he is the "man" when it comes to tuning, especially LT1's.

awesome dude! we should meet up, do you ever go to the daily wendesday meets off of coit road? or the HUGE monday car meets off of Highway 75?
