I DD it to college which is like ~2-3miles of sitting in traffic. I drive just over 50 miles a week around town...small town, close campus. It's basically all idling in traffic. I might go over 2k like 3x on the way to campus. Anyway I average about 50 miles a week on just over 5 gallons of gas.

so.... ~10mpg around town on stock converter and 21-22mpg highway. BTW my car runs EXTREMELY rich. IIRC I was getting around 13mpg last year city driving with the same mods...heavier foot this year maybe?...either way I noticed a big drop in mpg after the cam install, tho I attribute that mostly to the car running so rich.

Get it tuned. No reason that cam shouldn't have near-stock driveability and mileage.

Your gears are hurting mileage a little, but shouldn't be that much.

Stock stall?

Wow I'm surprised at how well some of you guys are doing with A4's. I have a 2.73 car and the best its ever seen was on my way to florida with the cruise control set at 70 and I only got 19!

I took mine on the tollway for a 2 hour cruise. Filled up before getting on and refilled when I got off and I got 26.7 mph. Around town, getting on it, I can literally watch the gas gauge going down. But it sure is fun in the process.

?????

Im A4 3.73 and I got around 11-13mpg on the highway but 20-22mpg in the city. With the gears and stall I dont need to go higher then 2k rpm to get up to speed in the city.

I got 14-16 in town and 28-31 on the HW with my bolt on 97 LT1.

In the new car, when it had the LE2 kit on it, with 4.10's, I averaged 26 driving it back from Chicago.

I'm hoping to get 23-24 with the new 383 and BIGGER cam. LOL

That's about what I'm looking for Dopdbrd.

I feel bad for you A4 guys.. I can almost get what some of you get on the highway in town.. And then I'll pull 24-28 on the highway at 75-80mph.

Oh and to prove the point of cam size/ gas mileage.. I've got a 236/242 duration .555/.576 lift cam. And still manage those numbers on the highway... I do how ever suffer from a verry heavy right foot that causes me a normal 11-12mpg in town.

I average 10 around town, dont think there's anything modification I could install that would make it get any worse then that lol
