When you want to insert a link instead of pasting it directly you click the little blue earth icon up in the top of the text box. You paste the link, hit ok and type what you want to title it in the blue highlighted part.

You have 6 months to part that car, after six months it has to be crushed, the car can be parted and housed but the actual cab or car with the VIN has to be crushed.

This program does suck, Ive seen typhoons, cyclones, z28s, BMWs, flawless pickups roll through.
So I'm curious.....that engine cannot power another vehicle, and it has been locked with, in this case glass. So there's nothing saying that the block cannot be reused? If it's stripped down to the block, there really is no way to confirm that the engine came from any specific vehicle. From that standpoint, you can part the original engine out since that engine is not powering another car. Then not only can the yard make a little more money selling the heads, intake, and block.......

Or am I completely off base and there really are no loop-holes in this program that would allow us to get hands on some prime parts that may need a little TLC.....

Trust me you would. I counted around 100 '94-'96 Impala SS's. That was enough to set me over the edge. I would have bought any decent one of them from the damn owners for more money than they received. They go for like freaken $8-12k around here!

I just read this, a freaken GNX!!! WTF!
http://www.freep.com/article/2009092...recent-program

EDIT: The official list: http://www.cars.gov/files/official-i...n-vehicles.pdf
I wonder how many 454 SS pickups were crushed, 1LE and B4C cars etc. etc.

A GNX? What kind of idiot could possibly have owned a GNX and not known what they had I imagine a total rust pile GNX would bring more than $4500.

EDIT: Just went through the list and found a 20th anniversary TA, arn't all those Trubo 6's?

Hey:

I love it, a founding member of LTXtech, did the C4C with a very nice looking car, maybe he should have parted it out, that was a nice bird. I'M sure he'll catch a lot more flak than he already has later on when this keeps coming up.

Yea, it does. Tranny too. Too bad they don't crush the guys that came up with this plan, and leave us the cars.

where did you find a 20th T/A? I know there was a white 89 GTA 350 turned in. just because a T/A is from 1989 does not = 20th. they only made 1555 20th turbo T/A's out of probably 15,000 T/A's and GTA's

Hey:

States that collect annual taxes based off the value or the year of the car, wanted this program.
Eco freaks that hate cars wanted this program.
New car dealers wanted this program.
All the states that overspent the 2009 budget and need new car tax revenue wanted this program.
SUV haters wanted this program.
Salvage yards wanted this program.
The top 10 auto manufacturers wanted this program
All the above plus many more had a paid lobby or lobbied for this program.
THEY SPENT OUR TAX Money on this program.

If someone could please tell me where to find the actual vin on a block I would love to know. I've helped the IL state troopers find vins on chassis and have yet to see one on a block. I know it can be done....supposedly, enough to narrow down the type and year of car, but never to a particular chassis. I'd like to see if my motor is original. And if there is no definite way, I gotta find me an LT1/4 vette block.

BTW.....a 97 Supra?!?!?! Are you kidding me??!?!?!?! I love GM but that car will mop the crap out of any LSx/LTx on anything.......(local guy has hit 8's with a large singe turbo)
