Ugh, I don't wanna hear that after the car was only driven no less than 200 miles and we bougt it for 1200. (yah i know...I keep bitching about that) But for 67k, you'd think it would last longer than that freaking 1xx miles.

Well, we have yet to check everything mentioned. I think Corey is really hesitant cause this car will make him just go insane really. If I had the tools AND jack stands I would put the bitch in the air and go to town honestly. But Corey has all the tools.

Ever since that noise, it has been garaged. We started it up twice. and then i took off the drivers side V/C and started it up once. Ran it for most maybe a minute or shorter. But no, I'm tempted to just to blow the **** out of it how ever lol. But I'll wait till we start to look for the problem. Will keep this thread updated for sure!

If things go well next week on my job search I'll buy a happy hooker. Might end up living over there anyway, we'll pull the engine and get it on a stand.

No dont do that! lol. I know how that goes, but take the time and diagnose it right before you give up. If the motor is in fact toast, pull it out and wait for a good deal on another one, i got impatient and sold a 1991 rs project and then hated myself for it untill i got my TA lol.

It does sound like a rod knock for sure to me, it is pretty loud and sharp, but thats what a knock sounds like. Drop the back of the pan down as far as you can and see what you can see after you try evrything else and before you pull the motor.

Wait wtf! Did anyone ask if he meant back and forth in a clockwise/counter clockwise motion? I went back and read the 2nd page, maby i missed it, but i was assuming he meant a rotation of 1/4", not an in and out 1/4". I though maby it was turning while trying to use a puller on the hub?

sounds like you need a new short block....... at the very least.

its probably from revving it to 7000 rpms on a stock short block.

Are you sure it has only 64k on it? The torque converters in the LT1 cars loads up the crank in such a way it causes excessive wear on the thrust bearing and flange. Usually it takes more miles than that to do anything noticable though. That info was taken from an LT1 build in car craft mag. If your oil pressure gauge is reading high its probably because you used the sender that came out of the caprice. Mine does the exact same thing as my motor came out of a caprice as well.

I hate to say it but that is exactly what my motor sounding like when it spun a rod bearing. It seems to me this motor doesnt have the miles on it the guy said it does but than again reving a stock motor to the rev limiter (a stock tune wont do 7k rpms) will put un-needed stress on all rotating parts.

Edit: I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but when we first put the stall in we didn't have enough trans fluid. So it Rev'd up to 7k and I had to let off the gas just so it would shift. Did this twice just to make sure the stall wasn't messed up or anything. Maybe wondering if that could have bent some push rods or something? I'm just really hoping it's a bent push rod as I have said in my past posts before
I just cant believe what I just read.... You didnt have enough tranny fluid so you revved it to 7,000 not once but twice
Jesus Christ.
You need to just get out there and start checking everything, taking a close look.

It's past the point of checking...Stock shortblocks do not like 7k rpm, you killed your motor dude!

Well, I had no idea what a Stall felt like. So when the car started to get up and go at 3k, I thought it was Normal. If you have never driven in a Stalled car, you really have no idea what your in for cause the videos don't do it justice. But lesson learned and I know what it feels like to be in a stalled car. So yes

Im sure you must have a problem with the crank if its moving in and out, but id like to point out what some people kind of already said i have heard cracked flexplate it has the same type of sound as the video.

So far one rocker looks like its coming apart or something. Gonna be a while before we can get it out and look and see what the oil pan is hiding.

What can be the cause of this? Anyone ever have this happen, what did it sound like? I know its a long shot, but well he is really hoping this could cause such a sound, but would like to hear opinions. If I had a NSA rocker laying around I'd swap it out and fire it up, but don't have that here. I guess he will end up having to order one anyway down the road.
