Unhappy Help Engine Noise/tick loud after oil change

I changed my oil tonight to get this noise after I started it up. Its a ticking/clacking sound that seems to be coming from the passenger side.

Before I changed the oil Id get a tick noise when starting the engine cold, but it went away within 30 seconds to a minute.

This noise is fairly loud, I can hear it if I'm sitting at a stop sign. I only really hear it at idle. I havent got under the car to listen to the bottom end yet.

Any ideas?

Deff. sounds like rod knock/valvetrain noise. DON'T RUN THE ENGINE ANYMORE!! Check the oil level, if its low (or empty) you either forgot the oil, or didn't tighten down the drain plug or filter. If it's full, you may have had something caught in the filter and clogged up your oil galleys or got some of the plastic protector rap stukk in the oil pump output port. If none of these are the case, your oil is probably bad (i.e. coolant in the oil or poorly produced oil that is waaay too thin and waaay under spec which to be honest is EXTREMELY unlikely)... either that or you had some coincidental major engine failure that just happened to occur at the same time

Also, how long did you run it for cuz the filter may not have been fully primed and may just need some run time to fill it up.

Oh God I hope its not rod knock.

Well its full of oil that looks clean and fine. I checked out the old oil and there isnt any metal shavings or anything scary in it. I'm pretty serious about my oil changes (German Castrol/Wix or Purolator filter) So I definitely didnt forget the oil or anything like that lol.

I filled the oil filter 3/4 full before I put it on by the way.

The noise isnt super loud but it definitely gets my attention. I drove the car after I changed it (had to) about 24 miles. I can hear the noise at a stop sign at idle in silence(no radio or anything. The car drove and ran fine. Oil pressure is 20psi HOT idle. 40 psi driving 2,000rpm+ 42ish psi cold idle

I just bought this car not even 3 months ago and have put less than 4k miles on it. My last 97 3.8 camaro had a timing chain go in July which led to me cleaning out my bank account for this car.

I'd check the easy things first- exhaust leak and loose spark plugs. Yes a loose plug can sound just like excessive valvetrain noise.
If those check out then it may be a lazy lifter.

Okay so get this. I let the car sit overnight and started it up today. And the noise is GONE? I let it idle all the way up until it hit 190 degrees on the temp guage. The oil pressure looks was 44-46 cold start and 23-27 hot idle. There is just normal valvetrain noise no loud ticks/clatter. I didnt drive it I just let it idle about 15 minutes.

LT1 engines have loud valve train in general so you might have just got scared thinking there was a problem. Just wait till you install aftermarket rocker arms they get really loud.

your use of lucas negates the thicker weight of oil. all lucas does is thin out oil and make it foamier. NEVER use oil additives.

I put 0w30 German Castrol in it with a Purolator Pure One filter. I let the car sit all weekend. So I'll find out tomorrow if the noise comes back.

engine restore would be a good investment... but i wouldn't mix it with the lucas...

and chris97z use thicker weight.....the **** you are putting in there is like supercharger oil

I've read the German Castrol is a thick 30 weight oil thats good for LT1/LS1. Thats why I used it since the factory calls for 5w30.
