Comp's rpm ranges are grossly inaccurate for the LT1.

fergymoto tried that cam with Lingenfelter ported heads and it had not yet peaked at 7000rpms.
The extra rpms mean the recommended springs are insufficient too.

This is REALLY a bad choice for a stock shortblock which we must assume you have since you did not say otherwise.
I would not bother with LT4 heads either.

Search XFI 292 on here and you will find more info on that cam.

Generally speaking with a stock shortblock you are going to want to stay beloe 230degrees on the intake and 112-113LSA are for emissions not power.

If you are gonna stick with the XFI cams, the 230/236 cam is the best choice for a stock bottom end LT1/LT4.

Mkae sure and get some GOOD springs for the XFI cams. The Comp bee hives have not been up to the task for some using these cams. The Patriot Gold Extreme springs will control the cam much better.

No mention of gear, weight, stall, shift RPM, emissions, "built" or "stock" bottom end, etc but for most people, the Comp CC 503 cam is a real good choice for descent drivability, a lil rumble at idle, good HP/TQ increase across the board, works with inexpensive springs/rockers, shift RPM safe for stock bottom ends, etc, etc.

Might be a better choice for you but the CC 503 is a good choice for most F body or Vette owners wanting a catalog cam and needing help with cam choice. B bodys need a milder cam for most set ups unless gear/stall is being used.
