Honestly if your engine builder will put together a fully forged 383 for $4k, do it, and don't add spray. Set the bottom end up with lower compression pistons and a good cam for a blower and get a Procharger and call it a day. It would kind of blow your budget, but you could run it without the blower until more funds became available.

Or just build a stout motor and lighten the car up a little. Look into AChotrods car, he has to be damn near stock weight and ran a 11.67 @ 119 or damn close to that number without spray and shifting gears with a T56 Just get some good suspension and a strong tranny, not a reman GM, look up CPT transmissions.

With a stout 383 and a good tranny and suspension you will be easily into the 11s, but if you swap to an LS based motor the same mods would probably net you bottom 11s, the motor swap isn't too bad, but I'll let you know when mine comes around LOL

Good luck man, but if you want to stay on a budget keep the stock crank and go 355, mines rockin hard and has been for the past 2 years and there isn't haardly anything around here that will keep up with it

My Buddy how the hell are ya? FU on the GTM you know I need to get the camaro out of the way before I can start that. Now I am getting all these wild ideas about the Camaro (your fault you dick). The GTM body is a John's on the paint prep stage and the frame and boxes are still in the Cove garage. I am in no rush now, as spending an additional 50K plus the 21K I paid for the kit is not that apealing in this economy. I will but it will happen more slowly like maybe over a two year period. Anyway give me a call lets get the Camaro running.

Finally completed my parts purchases and now it time to put her back together. This is my first attempt to put togeather a go fast package from parts and advise (37 years young) Heres what I went with,

Rebuilt block 355 forged pistons (stock crank/rods)
re-ported LE Heads
Manley Valves 2.00" Int/1.56"
APR throughout
1.6RR gold
Trick Flow PR
Crane 227
918 springs
ported stock intake
BBK shorty headers
cat delete
egr/air delete
Alt relo-a/c delete
full wrap for exhaust
60lbs injectors
225 fuel pump
STS rear mount
T67 upgrade
8.5 spring
Meth kit
LTCC
New GM remanned tranny
3000 stall
BMR trak pak with adj torque arm
Koni on the corners
75 shot direct port

No idea the end result but we will see after she is back togeather and a dyno tune is done. Any thoughts on RWHP? Still up in the air on the rear when the 10 bolt goes boom (still stock 3.23 gears) ? Boy do go fast parts add up fast. I have more into this package than what I bought the car for 14 years ago.

I'd do this with a Vortech blower or a custom turbo build....given you know how to do a little of your own work. I'd consider even just doing a stock cube rebuild on your new motor and change pistons and rod bolts with forged ones.

I've had a sts turbo camaro and I loved it. The sound is amazing. I'd get the pipes welded together where applicable cause vacuum leaks are a pain on sts turbo set ups.

He would blow 10k in the top end alone.

These are the parts I purchased so this is the route I am going. I am well over 10K in parts alone.

What do you think the power output will be?

I have read the STS on a stock LT1 puts out 394RWHP and with the other mods I put into the engine I am hoping to see another 100hp on top of that.... without the spray.

http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...o_results.html

I was told by the engine builder I could choose 75hp, 100, 125 or 150 shot (this was built prior to the turbo thoughts). Since I wanted to go turbo I figured I would go down to the smallest shot. The builder thinks I am risking damage but will help the turbo spool quicker, he said the tune better be spot on.
