Can fuel pumps overheat?

I'm on my 3rd walbro in 2 years and about 4,000 miles. Tey both did the same thing the OP is describing. Ran great for a about 30 minutes and then BAM! it would just start running like **** and die. I'm beginning to wonderif the gas tank isnt getting to hot from my exhaust?
