Car problem need help!!

I have a 93 z28. When i start the car the check engine light come on. And when i'm driving and come up 2 a stop my car dies and i have 2 start it back up. But when i'm about 2 drive it hesitates 2 go. But when i get on the highway it drives normal. What could it be? I changed out the battery and got the altanator checked and it was good.

Take it somewhere and have the codes read, see why you have an SES light...for starters.

Just curious what makes you think it's running lean?

OP, have the codes read. That's why they are there.

you can pull the codes yourself on a 93

Check out shbox.com I'm certain the instructions on how to do so are there

Make sure your battery cables arent loose...it sounds like a problem I had but mine would pop right before it died when I let off on gas so I changed my fuel filter so might wana check that also
